The Legality of Abortion in the United States

In the United States, abortion has always been a critical issue because it involves morality, religion, responsibility and social acceptance. However, amid criticisms, it was legalized in 1973 when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that “during the first trimester, a woman has the right to decide what happens to her body.”

In addition, according to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, there are nine (9) reasons why abortion is legal in the country. These reasons focus mainly on protecting women’s health, financial and psychological ability to raise a child, optional motherhood, choosing what is good for the family, and the list goes on.

In my opinion, though abortion is legally accepted in our society, a pregnancy should be continued because a baby is a blessing from God. Moreover, let us always bear in mind that everything we do has equal responsibilities that we should not ignore and take for granted.
